Jeff Speakman starred in over a dozen action packed movies including 'Deadly Takeover', 'The Expert', 'Streetknight', 'Running Red' and 'The Perfect Weapon' which displayed Kenpo in its purest form and still stands out as the best Kenpo movie today.

More important though is the fact that Jeff Speakman updated mr. Ed Parkers art Kenpo to modern standards incorporating a groundsystem. His art, Kenpo 5.0, is the hybrid of the last generation version of American Kenpo taught directly from Senior Grand Master Ed Parker to Jeff Speakman and ground fighting brought into the equation by Mr. Speakman’s senior student Trever Sherman. Mr. Sherman has brought this type of combat back to Kenpo so he and Mr. Speakman could create Kenpo answers to defending against an opponent with these skills in the street.

It is modifying the existing 4.0 system while remaining completely within the combat models and thinking of American Kenpo to address this increasing and prevalent void in the Kenpo world. By keeping within these models of Kenpo we have been able to develop a system combining the best of these two worlds to give our students the maximum ability to deal with the very real possibilities of becoming involved in these kinds of altercations.

In addition it allows us to continue to develop ourselves within the mind-body-spirit paradigm of a true martial spirit to reach a higher level of individual performance and sustained excellence and therefore strengthening the group as a whole.

TEAM U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E. KENPO

Vier nieuwe gele banders bij U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E. KENPO

Gisterenochtend hebben vier deelnemers van U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E. KENPO deelgenomen aan het gele band examen. Om 10 uur stipt werd begonnen met het theoretische gedeelte waarin de deelnemers 8 meerkeuze vragen, 8 open vragen en een invulzin moesten invullen. Alle deelnemers scoorden hier een cijfer hoger dan 8. Het praktijk gedeelte omvatte het complete materiaal voor gele band. Technieken, vormen, sets, basics, drills en een stuk sparring (voor gele band wordt er alleen gebokst op het lijf, full contact). In aanwezigheid van twee bruine banders en de hoofdinstructeur (ondergetekende) en wat toeschouwers lieten de deelnemers zich van hun beste kant zien. Na het overleg van de examinatoren werd met gepaste trots het ceremonieel begonnen waar bij de deelnemers hun gele band en hun diploma in ontvangst mochten nemen. U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E. KENPO feliciteren Maaike, M.J., Sharon en Oktay met het behalen van hun gele band!
